72 400 clutch spring

Post by JDXsand00s »

I just switched clutches on my 400 from the 100c that was on there, don't know the spring color, and my x8 100c. What should the engagement be for the x8 clutch, because my 400 now has unlimited low end it seems but tops out at about 35-40, a lot slower than the last clutch which went 50 but crapped out at low end. if i'm going to have a comet in my 72 400, what would be a good color of spring which will give it enoguh power to accelerate but not cut down too much on top end? thanks

The 100C on my 73X8 engages at 3800RPM's.

The sled with me on it (180lbs.) has ran according the speedometer 75 miles per hour. The dang windshield flexed back into my face. :ph43r:

Your secondary might be sticking like mine. Mine is in poor shape.

If Anyone would be so kind to put up some guidelines on secondary clutch removal and cleaning would be very much appreciated.
