Tomahawk WI

Was thinking of taking a trip to Tomahawk WI to take the sleds out. Has anyone been on the trails this year in Tomahawk? Was wondering how the trials compare to the ones is Eagle River?

Or should I drive the extra 2 hrs to Hurley???

I think with Eagle River having the snowmobile races this week and next it may be a little crazy around there....

Thanks!

Not sure about that area, they actually got less snow than where I am. (70mi or so southeast of there)
Shawano Co. trails are in great shape this year!
A lot less traffic.
Several motels right on the trail.

Anything from Minocqua east is going to be packed for the next week or so.
Yes Hurley always has a load of snow, except maye July? :lol22:

My friend has a cabin in Tomahawk (I go there every summer for a week, nice area) I got him into snowmobiling riding here in Illinois on my deeres, so last week he rented a sled for a couple days up there. He said the trails were nice in areas, but in some spots they were really really rough.

I see. My buddy has a cabin there as well. Trail reports for the Tomahawk area are fair to good it sounds like.

Hayward, WI may be a good option. Trails are in exellent riding condition.

I just got back from a 3 day ride in Tomahawk last night. Trails were fantastic. They were grooming the whole time we were there. We didn't hit anything rough.

Tomahawk trails and snow conditions are not that great now or for that matter most of the time---You are better riding 1 hour north of there into Iron county to get into the Superior snow belt. Manitowish waters/boulder jct/ mercer are all much better trail systems and much more snow. For those who like the tomahawk area I would say drive north 1 hour and find out how much better the sledding is.. For that matter just head to the U.P and really get into some great snow conditions and even a better trail system.

Put about 600 miles on 4 JD sleds between xmas and new years. Trails from Arbor Vitate to Sayner and Manotowish Waters were great and well groomed. Trail 6, Trail 10, Trail 17 are sweet.
