Some video of the Snowfire/still tweaking

Post by AJ Sparko »

My daughter and I were out playing in the snow today so we took some quick video. Still working on getting the right jetting and experimenting with exhausts. First one is stock exhaust, 34mm carb running a 190 main/ 30 pilot, air screw is about 1/2 turn out.

Having a spare exhaust I decided to play around with it a little and turn it into a small expansion chamber with resonator. Sounds good and it really improved the mid/top end powerband, really hits hard now. Low end isn't what I'd like but compromise and I can do some more tweaking, probably with a larger main chamber, and longer taper to widen it a little.

I think I need to bump the main jet up to 200, might even chuck a 210 in there. Running 40:1 mix, wanted to err on the side of caution till the carb is right, plugs are looking a little lean yet. More of a grey color which I assume is from running the heavier mix. Should I up the pilot as well?

Oh and here's a pic of the modified stock exhaust, think I'm going to pick up some expansion chambers off some junk sleds and modify them rather than start from scratch. I understand the tweaking involved with it, that's half the fun for me though is learning!

Nice sound. Is that just a cherry bomb turbo welded on there. Sure looks like the same one all the honduhs around here use.

It's a Sparko Turbo deluxe. :D one I made up quick with some fiberglass packing I had laying around. Would have liked to have made it bigger, just ran out of time and patience.

That was only like 16ga so it was pretty easy to hand bend around a chunk of tubing and form. Here's my "day" job. so it's nice to work with the thinner stuff once in awhile.
