Just got the family sled from my brother

Post by WatertownBob »

My brother is giving me the JD300. This sled was bought for my mom before I was born and has been in the family ever since.

It has sat for years. I know that the originale gas tank was metal and has been changed to a plastic, other then that its origianl..

anything special on these besides clean carb fresh gas and plugs. What ratio do I mix the gas and oil?

I am real excited to have a green machine in my garage!

Thanks Bob

The 300 has not been ridden much in the last 20 years.

should I replace the crank seals ? Or are the seal not usally a problem on these?

Twenty years of sitting, it would be wise to R&R the seals. The twin kohler is the easiest engine to change seals on. You can do it with the engine mounted the tunnel even.
