Lack of Low End Power

Post by 427cobra »

My buddies 80 LF doesnt seem to have much low end power. But has plenty of top end. His brothers 81 440 Trailfire can beat it off the line.

We tightened the secondary an additional 1/4 turn. Installed a new purple spring in the primary last year. Also has picks in the track.

But he is still running premix and oil injection. Would this cause any of the low end problems?

I was thinking possible gearing issues..... :whistle:

What are your guys thoughts?????

I thought 80 and 81 had 22/35 66 factory installed, and 21/39 68 in 82.

22/39 is a common gear package, I would have to look in the manual. Several gears are available with different chains.

Thats what the tech manual claims. The 80 I am working on now has the 22/39 so who knows.

Was it optional when you ordered a new Liquifire? Or did you get the factory installed set, and swap them out after delivery?

Well my buddy tore into his chain case today and found that the chain was loose and there was no oil left... :wall:

Not sure where the oil went either...no signs of any leaks... :think:

He also was running a 35 tooth gear along with the 22.

We decided to switch it back to stock and add some oil along with adjusting the chain correctly.... :beers;

Eric, whats the outside temp where you are & at the time when you've been working on the sled?? If it's above +30 deg. you might have to change the main jets, the 80 liquifires are very temp sensitive, when the outside temp goes up & the snow get tacky...
