The /23LC never had points. Are you sure you have the correct bottom end for it. They look similiar to the /22 but have different crank retainer ring slots. The engine could have been converted to points, but that would be very unusual.

The serial number 746202164 on the manufacture plate , flywheel has stamped on it 038000-2310. I will pull it apart when it gets a bove -22c or -7 F air gun doesn't run well that cold. I wonder if it could be done well explore it.

:wall: :silenced: I just don't understand with the technology that is built into the CDI system why anyone would want to go backwards?? This is the second time this has came up this year.....

Air Gun????

Stay away from your engine with that tool!

All the bolts are steel and are threaded into aluminum. A impact tool will strip everything out.
A 3/8" drive set is all you need except for the clutch bolt.

Not as rare as you may think, Just because somethings FREE doesn't mean that's the way to go, Good luck on your endeavor.. as I believe you will need a lot of it..

Well the fun will be determining the point parts on this disassemble engine . Could be valuable to someone in the right set up. For now pulled the other engine from the second machine runs excellent already have a buyer lined up for it . Will wait and find the proper stator for the old engine. Though I do have a line on a 440 Kohler L/C race engine modded by a gentleman that worked for mercury marine research many years ago. Definetely not a trail sled but great for lake running. Thanks for all that replied.

The way I understand it is the f/c x6 and x8 motors share the same crankcase and crank along with the l/c motor so if this is correct someone may have used a points setup from an x6-8 in the lc engine or used the f/c bottom end and added the l/c top end and externals.
