81 liquifire on ebay

Post by jdsledwheelman »

this liquifire on ebay seems high are the 81s that rare or is it because of the 84 hood on it. if you look close at the tunnel decals this is definitely an 81. :eh: i think some of the bidders are thinking its an 84 because of the hood  . just wondering am i off base

I appears to be kind of a mish-mash. Not only does it have an '84 hood, but it also has an '82-84 ignition system. Clutching appears to be '80-81 however.

Rich,

You're right on the '82-84 engine to have the electric start option.

I am not the bidder on this sled but i did drive it this morning and it drove very nice. Everything works well and it started right up and drove smooth and strong. I cant believe i said that. Never owned an 80,s sled but i liked it. As this sled is not perfect it is a nice rider. Good luck to the bidders.

This sled is not mine. A buddy of mine was interested and we went to look at it.......Sled is now more then he was willing to pay for His first vintage sled.................Still a nice sled

I'm not interested but I don't think the price is out of line if you want a sled of this era. DA

Rich, is there anywhere on this site that gives the breakdowns of the 80-84 LF? What is an 1981 "A" LF? What are the different ignitions on these sled? What is the best year LF?

Sorry for asking what might be a dumb question for you guys, but I have a feeling before next winter, I will have a 80-84 LF.

I right now know where a 83 LF is, asking like $600 about 4 miles from me.

On the jdsleds.com home page, click models, then 80-84 Liquifire, and there is a serial number breakdown. However, I think Rich just outlined more info then I have there, so I may borrow some of this.

Clutch is a newer style 102C and operates smoothly, temp gauge is aftermarket but works. Replacement of motor was never brought up. Serial number is shown on their listing. Track and suspension in great condition. This sled has been maintained mechanically by Professionals not your backyard mechanics. Buyer should check the grounding on electric start. It worked but i received a good jolt :wall: Good luck

Wow, it is at $1045.00 with alittle to go.

Thanks Rich for the info. Looks like a 83 or 84 was the best LF. Was the TR800 clutch standard then in 83? What was the HP of the LF?

Thanks,

Will

TR800 in '82, '83, & '84. HP was around the 65hp range.

Rich, how many LF were made, year by year? Is there anywhere that has the production numbers for all of the Deere sleds? I would like to know the JDX series.

Thanks,

Would the A mean the sled is one of the 107... My 81 has the flat square coil over the recoil. but the clutch was replaced by someone???

Thats very interesting! I`ll have to check my two tonight. I doubt either one are though. No TR800`s anyway.

I guess the price on that LF doesnt look too bad anymore!
