AAEN Performance Pipes
Does anyone have or has anyone used the aftermarket high performance pipes from AAEN Perf. Pipes? http://www.aaenperformance.com/VintagePipes.asp
If so, how is the fit? The function?? How loud are they???
I'm considering a set of these pipes for my 1980 LF I just bought that I'll be re-building this Summer for next year, but I don't want something that is screaming loud all the time..
Thanks in advance!

Hopefully ralphy chimes in this thread to let me know how they are.
Thanks!

Actually looking for a 1974 JDX4 special. To complete the set. None of mine run, haven't in 27 years. Gathering info and tips from you guys before I dive into them. Don't really want to start collecting snowmobiles like I do 2 cylinder Deere tractors, already have 4 of them. Thanks for the offer. Would be nice to have a running sled though....DevonV wrote:hey Will_jdx r u interested in a 1974 JDX6?

I have the pipes on my 81. They are noisy, but not too bad compared to the triples of the 90s. It is only obnocious on pavement, on snow its not loud, so when you get fuel, it will be the noisiest. You will have to rev it for 9000 rpms to get the full power of the pipes. I have not compared it to a stock LF, as the pipes were on it when I bought it. I also have been running Amsoil Dominator mixed at 50 to 1 along with the oil injection turned up. I just like to have a little more oil running thru those crank bearings when revving 9000. The sled has been flawless as far as engine (700 miles this year ).

Thanks for the reply.
Do those pipes have mufflers on the ends of the expansion chamber pipe tips?

Ralphy is right that the motor needs to spin around 9000 for these pipes to work. Problem is the porting on the motor is not designed for 9000 RPM. At the very least the exhaust port needs to be raised one mill. The pipes will make less power without some engine changes than the stock pipe. I know that someone will say I am wrong but if they want to drive it up here and put it on the dyno I will rip up the dyno bill if I am wrong. Peter

I wonder how those pipes would work in combination with 4/6 cylinders on a LF engine then? From what I understand, those cylinders w/ the higher compression standard Invader heads move a LOT more air than the standard LF cylinders/heads do.
Hmmmm....

Sorry, no difference. Exhaust port is still too low.
