trailfire and sprortfire

Post by tmartin »

I posted about these earlier in the week looking for what they are worth. A guy I know has a pair of John Deere sleds. One is a sportfire and one is a trailfire 340. They have about two thousand miles on them. I would say they are both 1980-1981. They are in rough shape as they were sitting out for quite awhile but they are complete and from what I saw not cracked up or anything. He called last night and told me that fifty dollars takes them home. I couldn't pass up that deal. Hopefully I can pick them up this weekend. Chalk two more up on the collection board. :beers; I will keep you posted on them.

You dont have to tell me that twice. I bought my first one this fall and have been looking for more since. I didn't even finish working the bugs out of it yet and I bought these hurtin' units. What do you have for sleds?

I am a fan of the antique tractors as well. I bought a 42 B when I was 12 years old. I also have a 51 Massey Harris 44 standard and a 39 oliver 70. I have a 1970 cub cadet 127 that i restored, and a 1970 Bolens 1256 that I use to snowblow around the farm. As a family we have
-41 JD A
-5? JD 60
-5? JD 70
-53 MH 44
-47 MH 44-6
-43 IH H

To bad we have no snow in central wi. I would have liked to put together a vintage ride with jd fans.Whenever I go with riders with old sleds I am only one with a JD.Went last weekend up, to neva corners(antigo area)over 230 registered for ride.It was fun.

I know it. My buddies and I were going to do a first annual Jalopy run this year. I have the Jd 400 going, my brother has a 73 Panther 340, and my buddies have another 73 panther, a scorpion sting, a ski whiz and an old ski doo olympique, and now I will have these other two soon enough so some more could go along. I would have went to that thing in antigo last weekend but I was in Michigan visiting a friend. My brother works with a guy that helps put that on. I saw pictures. Next year we will be there. Could I ask your name? It has been bothering me that there is someone so close with all this antique stuff that I dont know. Travis
