About two years ago I spotted an 81 SF, on a trailer not far from home. It was a ways off the road, and since it always sat out, I didnt think too much about it, and never got around to inquiring about it. I kinda forgot about it until last summer when I ran into this guy that I hadnt talked to in about ten years. I asked him where he was living and he said he lived on that farm. I asked about the Sportfire, and he claimed it was like "brand new." Said it had low miles, he had the carb cleaned and it ran. I asked how much, and I think he said $600, and I became less intersted, because it had been sitting outside for at least a year now, the guys a hillbilly, and has alot of junk. So today, I was trying to track down this guy about a model A coupe, and passed the sporty twice. So i stopped for a look see only to discover he was right, and two or so years ago it was like new! If I had only stopped two years ago!

260 km. The seat was absolutely perfect except for the fact that it has baked in the sun for two summers, and was as hard as a rock! The chrome was all rusty, but there wasnt a scratch anywhere on the sled. The tunnel was super nice, and looked like it would polish up very easily. I tried pulling the engine over, but it didnt budge, and I didnt want to force it. Overall, the sled was still in good restorable condition, and it was a shame its been outside. I think I might see if he will come down on the price, and try to salvage the seat. Maybe I`ll pass the sled on to someone else with a less than perfect seat.
I wish I didnt let that beautiful seat (and sled for that matter) bake outside!
