Cari Deerest's HOF Trophies

Post by JoeRainville »

Hi Guys,

Like Brian, I am still putting together my pic's and stories of the Horicon show and the Vintage Challenge. In the mean time here are a few pic's of the momento's I brought home for Cari.

First up is Cari posting with #8 of 15 of the signed Brian Nelson posters I picked up at the HOF on Sunday. (Thanks for staying open Loren!) She is also holding the souvenier JRC gave me to give her, the missing chunk of his 102-C clutch. She was glad the chunk from her ETD hero was cheaper than poster #1 LOL!

The second pic is of her new hat and souvenier name tag from Don Amber. I think she is going to have the clutch chunk mounted to a plaque to commemorate the fact that my sled actually survived the challenge better than our trailer and checking account.

More to come! :beers;

We were looking at the broken piece at the banquet. The best guess was that the clutch face failed first, then it ate the belt.

Brian Nelson opined that the weight broke first, then the out of balance condition caused the sheave to break near a tower.

Some of the parts appeared to have been working on each other for a while.

Rich,

It looked like the clutch took out the belt. The weight retainer pin was snapped, but looked to have been partially cracked for quite a while before it broke. Brian had a good point if the wieght broke off first, the imballance could have taken out the clutch. It should have performed poorly, since it would have lost 1/3 of the force to compress the clutch. I am not sure if the casting failed first or not, but it did snap the cover retainer bolt on the missing chunk too.

Luckily it did not grenade the go through the hood or JRC's leg. When I gave the chunk to Cari, and told her it was from Jon, she said: "See, I told you he likes me better!" What a sweet girl...

I was really hoping that JRC and the Liquidator could get along on this trip and make up for years past and become friends. Nope, darn sled bit him again. Looks like we will need a back up 340/s for Jon next year.

Later Liquidator!

No JD...that's my Cari Deerest!

PS: There is a shift key one row below each of your pinkies. It makes capital letters to begin a sentance. A period [.] followed by 2 spaces ends them :cool:

Never have lost a primary in my entire sled riding life.....35 year old cast aluminum gave out, engine ran well although rich, carbides allowed great control, some tunnel slap from the track on the rough section of the lakes, engine used fuel...."E" at Cisco!. I am so humbled by the fun and friendship from all the vintage riders and their accomplishments. It was a real joy to visit and ride with everyone, I was very sad that I could not continue, I promise if I could have we would not have been late for dinner......right Troy and Brian! JRC

I'm going to talk about that a bit in my report Jon, but I'm not sure even you could have pulled off that miracle! However, if you recall, I WAS NOT late for dinner. :lol22:
