Drive clutch spring color

Post by TASKY »

Just what color is the drive clutch spring supposed to be in a 80 liquifire with a comet 102c?

Out of the 4- 80 liquifires I own they all have yellowish gold color.

The 80 that I have running is just a dog out of the hole. It does not even want to spin the track. After it hits 4500 rpm it just takes off.

I am at 600 feet above sea level. I set the carbs to 82-84 specs jetting the pto side richer. The carbs have been cleaned numerous times this month. I know how important this is. Gearing is factory installed. Belt is brand new.

My 83 goes like it is supposed to with a tr800 and a red spring. Should it be a red spring? I might have heard something once about purple.

Thanks Tasky

Tasky,
a Purple spring is std. 4400-4600 RPM engagement
Green spring will give 5000-5200 RPM engagement
Gold Spring will give 5200-5400 RPM engagement
It could be that the yellow/gold spring you have is weak
There is also a Red spring M68753 for the 102's this is the one I like
are you sure that the clutch has the right weight/arm kit (AM55172 which is a "B" weight) or you can use a notched weight AM55112 (which is the high alt. weight) this with the Green M68853 or Red M68753 spring should make it move out of the hole, LOL
