Well guys, if this isn't enough reason to make it to Waconia next year I don't know what is. While having a very pleasant and enjoyable day at the local vintage show sure as crap one A-Hole just could not keep his pie hole shut. I do not know or ever want to know the guy but he told me it was too bad John Deere was the featured sled a t Waconia next year. He said he would probably go to Waconia even though all there would there was a bunch of PLOWS. He had to even be more insulting by saying the only way we would have near the number of sleds at Waconia as Ski-Doo is if they allow MANURE SPREADERS  It was seriously hard not to knock out his front teeth and instead just say We'll see. :lol22: Duane

Duane,

Too bad you didn't think of this....Does your vintage brand have a dedicated website with 1400 members where it is commonplace to have the racers from back in the day post in awe and appreciation for the fanship of their sleds and accomplishments? I'm sure that wouldn't phase such an idiot, but remember where you hang you're hat. This is something really special. By the way, how many other Agriculture companies were able to produce a race winning snowmobile? And another thing, how many other snowmobile companies can claim to be one of the big four (even though it was for one year) without a single corporate acquisition to kill the competition?

Very true Kenny. On the other end of the spectrum there was a Rupp guy drooling all over my 78 Liquifire. He stated that about 10 years ago his dad sold a 78 340 Liquifire with a twist grip and race #s at a auction for $100. His dad said the track was torn and he could't get a track for it. He said he was pretty sure it was a CC Liquifire and is just sick his dad sold it. He said it was his favorite sled and best looking Deere ever. Another guy said he really hoped the IFS Liquifires would surface and really love to see one. Duane

Duane,

Kenny and I have been listening to such nonsence for years. However, some of these morons do need a verbal beating once in a while. I will take a good natured ribbing, but then threaten to drop a Dator on there foot if they keep it up.

As for real morons like you describe, you could mention the RWC Vintage Challenge. We don't just polish up our ditchbangers, WE RIDE THEM HARD. There are too many pro's and con's to every vintage brand, so you just have to let the guy hang himself with his own rope. Something to be said for maintaining your composure with such an idiot.

I think the ETD guys handled it the best way back in the day, by being a force to recon with in the ditches.

Also, when Deere was the featured sled at the Whiteout in 2005, there was a huge turn out at the show, and over twice as many Deere's as the previous TWO years of featured sleds. I am still trying to figure out how to make both events, Waconia and the 2nd Annual Vintage Challenge!

Quite true, When I was a 12 year old kid riding a JD 300 I rode with a neighbor that had a Sno-Prince. I thought it was great fun to put duct tape over the "rince" thus making Sno-P and he would always ask if I had the 4020 ready to ride but we were good friends just having fun with each other. I thought of that blast from the past when I saw the neatest mini Sno-Prince at the vintage show yesterday, I believe it was a 220? Anyway a Yahmaha Sno Scoot got first and the Sno-Prince got second in the mini original class. I told my boy there is a Sno-P and a Sno Poop 1st and 2nd. :lol22: I thought it but but I would never think of saying that to someone who obviously had their pride and joy at the show. Duane

I don't know how many "plows" go 2100 miles in one snowmobile season without a single breakdown or for that fact never breaking down in 3300 miles of total riding. Sounds like somebody needs to broaden there knowledge a little more. Luke

Should have told them there would probably be a few manure spreaders there. Especially for people like you that need a proper place to sit.

I am proud to own tractors and equipment made by the same company that made my sleds. How many company's can say that. I can think of one, Massey.

I usually just tell the gum flappers that I use to own the other brands aswell, but then I got a job. That being said, pretty much sends them on their grumbling way. Also remind people like that John deere is the only farm company left that hasn,t merged with someone (ie. Case IH ETC. ETC.) Also remind them that John Deere employs many people, and has many outsiders fabricating components of some sort. So remind them about the re-procushions, and spin offs of job loss if Deere was to fold or '' SELL OUT''. Remind them of the followers the next time they see someone sporting a John Deere hat or shirt. The John deere product is a great example of a quality commited product that in this day and age can still be found, with an exceptional warranty to back it. And yes, the John Deere snowmobile is no longer produced, but just imagine how exceptional it would have been if it still was. This site is only a drop in the bucket of those of us who did then, and cotinue to support a John Deere legacy......Rob.

You really can't respond to someone that's so determined to be a jerk.

I have a hard time even understanding derogatory comments toward JD sleds. Where I live it's all agricultural territory. When I was growing up you were somebody if you had a Liquifire! If I was going to insult a brand it would be 'Doo for making years of uninspired yellow jelly beans. To each his own.

Don't take it personal. If you had a chance to be around the guy making the statements you'd find he probably spewed hate at everyone and everything. That type of person can only feel important by trying to belittle others. It's really kind of sad.

Oh, BTW; JD did make some pretty neat manure spreaders too.

One thing I noticed this year is that about 5/8 of the ads on Vsca Or the NH board are for Doo's or Doo acc.
