Maybe I am not completely innocent myself. This involved a new sled a couple years back. When that new Phazer came out a couple years ago Yamaha also had a touring model that was even uglier. Help me out, I don't even know the name but it kind of looks like a grasshopper or the head of the alien from the alien movies with this big queer looking windshield and skies. You know, one of those new sleds you look at and wonder what are they thinking of. Anyway my boy and I just filled up with gas and were ready to take off when some lady pulls up on one of these things. This thing is so god awfull looking I would give up snowmobiling before I would ride one. Like a smart A%^% I ask the lady what it is and she told me and I can't remember because I don't care. I have to admit this was mean, but I told her that this is the ugliest sled I have ever seen and that I would shave the snow flap and ride it backwards.
Oh man, you should have seen the look on her face. She was kind of in shock as I drove off. She probably hates all Polaris riders now.
That sled should should get a ride in a freshly used JD manure spreader.

Geez, Rich I might not have waxed it but I washed out my spreader after every use. For anyone with farm animals / horses that's probably the most important tool outside of the tractor. Spreader is long gone but still have the tractor.....................nope...............not a deere. DA
Feel free to check out our website www.buscobullet.com for restorations or parts.

i went to waconia several years ago and my kid raced the dator. we ran against a polaris who got in our lane and my son got out of the throttle and moved over to keep from wrecking sled.
the guy who ran the race said before the race "whatever pin the guys on the finish line give you is what you get no argument"
the guys on the end gave him the blue pin (1st) and the race director pulled it when the polaris guys complained that their sled finished first even though it was in the wrong lane. i thought it was B.S. and havent been back since. maybe this is the year to go back!

HECK I even knew Joe rainvielle before it was COOL! rest assured he hasn't changed at all stilla great guy to know, heck he is wearing the jack that I got! Kinda cool as it ended up in the hands of a TRUE JD fan!

Just finally read this one. Reminds me of Deere vs skidoo last weekend...
Last weekend our small group went on a 200 mi ride. (my '83 Sprintfire, 2004 FireCat, 78,79,80 Polaris TXL's,
a 77 Yahama Enticer, a 77 Skidoo Blizzard 7500, and some other 2007 Skidoo. (They all look the same to me now).
The Blizzard broke down first after about 12 miles, then blew up the motor 1.5 miles later. (This guy is buying one of mine today).
The guy with the newer Skidoo broke down about 40 miles later. (He bought one of my Sportfires, but did not register it yet.)
My buddy Dean told those guys several times....
"If you woulda brought out the Deere you wouldn't have these problems."
Most of us got a kick out of that.

Duane ..... you always catch hell don't you? Last year in Waconia you asked that guy near us to help you and I unload your beautiful Liquifire.
As we were setting it down he said "I bet this thing is worth a lot of money if you would run it across the scale at the junk yard" .......
I thought you were going to kill him......

Hmmmm, I wonder how my upcoming "Hot Rod" Liquifire will fare against those snooty Polaris folks next year at Waconia??

That brings back a lot memories, some of them even good! Ron was the first member off the board I met in person, I think I even had hair back then. We were deffinately JD was JD wasn't cool, LOL! That was back around 2001 or so when I was hauling sleds on an open car trailer, and the only Deeres on display at most vintage shows. I remember selling Ron parts for your CC resto, because "I would never find one in NY" Turns out I right in a way, but I didn't think I would find one in Indiana and another one in WI either.
I was surprised when I saw Willie's leathers at Mike's place. Pleasantly surprised that I was able to purchase them with the parts I bought. The jacket doesn't fit me too badly, but there is plenty of room under it for my Safe-Jac. It was fun to wear it on the VC, as it matched my CC.
Since meeting Ron, I've been able to dig up Deere sleds that I thought I would never find. I think I started with 2 after college in 94, and have been up to 40+ before settling in at the 30 or so I have now. I think when I met Kenny, the Watersboy in 97, I only had 4 or so. They got little respect or recognition at first, but that has improved as the CC racing history has come out.
Since then, I've had a few major pride inducing moments: First was when Deere was the featured sled at the Whiteout in 2005. About 23 Deere sleds showed up! Second was seeing Bob Carlson inducted into thee HOF. Finally, over half the sleds at the Vintage Challenge were Deere. I guess I am not the only one that collects them after all.
Having real live ETD members drop in on us is also pretty darn cool. I kind of saw that as the board hitting the "big time". After something like 10+ years on this site, I still love my Deere's, and don't really care if some moron puts them down. You can't take away the quality of the build nor the accomplishments in the ditches!

Joe, I don't get it. I was just standing there minding my own business. Oh well, the the guy had these idiotic comments probably gets his clothes made from his girlfriends fur. Can you say BBBAAAAAHHHHHH.
I wish I would have thought of that one at the time. After all he was probably the Black Sheep of the Family.
