Since Kenny isn't going to be around for a couple more weeks, I need you to verify a spec for us, as a confirmation that the information is correct..

The info Kenny sent me on the 295/s bore and stroke is 55.9mm/60mm. Is that correct? In other words, the "55.9mm" bore size is a bit odd and seems like JD wouldn't have made a wierd size like that, when all they had to do was round that number up by .1mm. Can you verify that this factory bore size is correct? If it's correct, what was the reason why they did that?

Wiseco needs this info to move forward, because if that data is incorrect, the piston they produce will not fit the bore correctly, so it's VERY important. Thanks!

PJ.. My book shows 55.999-56.007 to be the bore size..So I am guessing the 56mm bore is standard.. But I will let the experts make the call.. KUDO's to ya PJ.!!

Thanks Frankie. Is there any other engine spec. information you can pass along that your book shows? I have a LOT of engine spec data for the 340/s engine that Kenny gave me, but not much for the 295/s engine, so the more the better for development purposes. Thanks!

The even more detailed information for the 340/S was provided in the 340/S Service Text Book (I think Kenny did use this).

Yes, I did have that detailed info for the 340/s engine from Kenny, but not as detailed for the 295/s engine. However, that has changed now with the data Frankie posted and Wiseco now has detailed engine data for both engines to work from.

I will take 2 sets std, and 2 sets .020 over for the 340s, and my buddy who I will talk to tomorrow will most likely take the same for his 295s. Thanks in advance!

Update: 3/4/09

Wiseco has all the last specs for the 295/s engine now and I expect to hear back from our contacts there by next Monday on pricing, parts ETA, etc. Almost there! :-)

PJ, I'll be home late Fri March 6th, email me direct at my UMP e-address, a phone number where I can call you on Sat if you'll be around I need to ask you something about another set of pistons that I'll need this summer, I can furnish Wiseco's new number for there 60mm version of this piston, but I'll need a bunch of them stretched out for a bore that will give me close to around 500 CC's ( twin cyl. ) or so??

ICCSF 108 wrote:A few of the 340/S guys already know this, BUT for the rest of you out there, if anyone else is in negotiations with a piston Mfg. at this time on Re-manufacturing 295/S & 340/S Pistons, Please let me know ASAP.. Next week I will be getting Blue Prints drawn up
( thanks to all who responded ) & will be taking the prints to Vietnam with me when I go Feb 16th. While there I plan on trying to find a piston MFG. that might give us a quote on a smaller Quantity & still be reasonably priced?? I will try to get the 340/S Pistons done the same as NOS so they can accept the OEM Piston Rings as there seems to be approximately 125+ NOS/OEM rings out there and available.. If this fails in VN, then we can check with Wiseco or a other Mfg. if we can come up with anyone else??.

Also could I get an Idea of how many would be interested in 295/S or 340/S pistons?? And who would be willing to PREPAY for them..
REMEMBER the Dator REPOPED Pistons?? same as those, Don't get hung out without any in a couple of years...
IF you have a 295/S or 340/S, Think at some point you wish or might have, or just want some trading material for in the future, IT MIGHT be a good idea to purchase some?? as there probably is going to be ONE order & ONE order only, so don't miss out as some did on the Dator Pistons. When There Gone They WILL be GONE.. As we probably won't be able to order a couple at a time...
I have got NO IDEA on a price of these ea.. Keep in mind that all shipments from VN go through US Customs in Long Beach Ca. & go through a broker there & then have to be shipped from there to here... Kind of a double shipping charge.. I have connections to get them shipped out of VN to LB & A broker in LB to get them shipped here..
The price on the Dator Wiseco Pistons I believe were $100.00 - $125.00 ea. on the Pre-order & then I think around $150.00 ea after that.. THINK that's HIGH? As far as I know there isn't any left & Price a New Piston for a NEW sled...
I'm hoping we can be in around the $60.00 to $80.00 ea. range BUT that is only wish'n & Hope'n ???

Thanks

Kenny
I have 2 295s machines and i'm very interested in replacement pistons . Please send me details on how to place an order. Thanks
