I talked to a friend today and a guy called him and has an 84 trailfire LX for sale. He says it looks like new with very low miles it has both the original windshield and seat and neither have a mark on them. He says he can buy it for a $1000, is this worth it.

How much it is worth depends on how much the buyer is willing to spend. Does your friend want it, or do you want it? Is it really that nice? You need to take a look for yourself, and then determine how much you want to spend for it.

I don't think I will be getting this machine, my buddy wants it and asked me what I figured it was worth. I would love to have this sled as it would look good next to my 84 sportfire.

Personally, I would pay $1000 for an ultra, ultra clean '84 Trailfire LX. I bought one this year in 6-6.5/10 condition that is in OK condition for $350 but needs a going over mechanically and cosmetically and I'll most certainly have over $1000 in it by the time I'm done. Not to mention the amount of my time to get it there.

I have to agree with Robb, if that sled is MINT, really MINT, than a grand is fair. I also have an 84 resto project Trailfire that I paid $600 for, and would have payed the additional $400 to have a perfect one.
Good luck,

money, time, or hobby?
If you WANT a MINT trailfire I'd say it's worth it.
Like the rest said, if you wanted a mint trail & bough an ok one for a couple
hundred & put a few months into finding, a few 100's in buying, and more
time installing "newer" parts you'd have that into it. But do you WANT to do it
yourself or just have one?
I'm always on that fine line between time vs. $ myself.
I prefer "riders" though.
