Spit Trip

Post by JDDDeere »

Hello... our snow in new england looks to be lasting only about 4 - 5 days!!! What gives??????

Anyway, I did get my Spitfire out and logged a few miles (mostly in an oval) as I want to build some confidence before venturing any father. It runs/idles pretty nice. Recall this is a 1980 sled with a mostly rebuilt (new seals/gaskets) 1978 Kohler. Off the line (low end?) it seems really sluggish (bogs a bit).... however, after aobut 10 - 15 yards (and 5 seconds on the throttle) it takes off like a bat out of h#ll.... I know these are not "performance" sleds per se, but is this typical for these little sleds? As I understand it, there is only one adjustment on the mikuni slide carb and that is for the idle????

Thanks...

Dan
