1975 Johnson

Post by T-Bone »

Thanks for the info, I'm excited to hear this beast run. Curious as to how it is going to sound. I'll go and check out the other sites mentioned and see what I can learn. Might be awhile before I can start on the Johnson as the wife and I are adding a third crumb muncher to the flock tomorrow and free time is going to be a premium but I want to have it restored before my run to Wisconsin next February. Should give me plenty of time!!!?!

Later,

Wow, I am glad to know I am not the only one on this site that likes these goofy rotary Johnsons! I bought mine last year on the way out of the Saturday A-1 sled show in Michigan. This poor sled was sitting all alone on a trailer, the price had been marked down multiple times and the seller had no intentions of taking it back home with him.

The rotary engine does feel quite a bit different compared to a two-stroke, lots of low end grunt for sure.

I picked up a service manual on ebay last month, if anybody needs some scanned info just let me know.

KWC, yours is in a lot better shape then the one I picked up. Mine is in good shape for the "piles" I usually bring home though. Should be a fun one for me. Trying to upload a picture here but have never done it so hopefully it works.

T-BONE, that Johnson is not in that bad of shape. Hope you enjoy it.

It's a lot nicer than most of the stuff I bring home. I'm thinking it will be a fun sled once it's rebuilt. I'll post some pictures when it's done. Hoping by this fall but got a couple of projects ahead of it.
