2010 VC Ride!

In retrospect, I'm positive my body was up to it but...............I was about to suffer the same fate as Troy had I ridden a few more miles. My front idler shaft was ready to fall out. That problem has been fixed! As to Bob...........he can still kick my butt so I don't think that's a problem. DA

Think I should turn the oldest guy honor (honor?) over to Don next year, especially after reading on vintagesleds.com that Jon says we will ride much faster next year to make it back by 4 PM .....and something about riding like the champs, aka Carlson & Nelson. That should make those trees look closer on the ice corners. Don, get some good carbides for that 340S and go for it.

Yes sir, I'll be there again with the 340/S! I have a suspension to re-think. I'm hoping to get it bullet proof this time! All the prep work and testing I did at home didn't prepare me for the elevation change/temps that effected my carb jetting. I was just way too rich! I plan next year to make St. Germain early enough to do some testing to dial in my carbs. I felt like my carbides and studded track worked well in the turns.

Hey Guys,

PolarisDan and I booked again at the White Tail (same room I think). We are heading up on Thursday. We are planning on a Friday ride to Bosacki's and back then over to the Hof. All are welcome to ride with us. Sounds like it's 30-35 miles each way........... should be a good shake down distance.

Hope to join you guys for dinner and stories again also!

Can't wait till Feb!

Later,
Roger

Hello Polaris Dan, Roger & other 2009 Vintage Challenge riders,

78 TXL Mike and I booked the same room at the Whitetail for Feb. 2010 today. Looking forward to repeat last years fun and excitement. We will prep sleds even more as we learned more now on what to expect and looking to adding a GPS to one of the sleds (is that allowed on vintage equipment). I hate being lost, which I was most of the day! Course I was in Yellowstone the first time too, but I had a trail map then. My 23 year old son who is into motocross says that he is RIDING in 2010. That means I need another Liquifire or should I take a chance and revive my pickled Liquidator?

Later,

Hi Keith,

Get that Dator out of storage, and replace all the bearing and crank seals. Oh yea, check the darn Comet for cracks too! It would be great to see more Dators on the Challenge, after all Brian Nelson wants to give a special recognition award to anyone the finishes the ride on one!

Chuck,

I really hope you join us next year. It would be great to ride sleds with you. Get Jesse, Wade and the Commandant to join us too. I will be out your way Memorial Day weekend. Have to stop at Lee's, and will try to stop by your place.

Roger, Don, etc,

I am planning to come into St. Germain early. No, really, I mean it! I am thinking of arriving Thursday night or so to hit the trails and tune sleds. I really like the idea of a pre-ride shackdown. The Watersboy and I totally admit we got luck with our sleds and didn't have any trouble this year.

Upon arriving home from the 08 HOF ride, Kenny (Watersboy) took a new job. It appears that his driving luck continues. DA

Chuck, Joe, and other Challenge riders,

I will give thought this summer on reviving the Liquidator for St. Germain in 2010. Joe your advice as always, is very wise! I never had a mechanical failure with that sled during the times it was race but the years afterwards it seldom made a complete day on the trail or poker ride. I committed to Jesse at Horicon that it will be at Waconia Saturday & Sunday in 2010.

Chuck! You got me started in this some years back. I think your obligated to ride with me even if I am on a tricked out Kitty Cat!

Cute, Don Cute,

Brian, just so you know, I was the first to shove a ski up Joe's back. Beat all the sno-crossers, and any fans he has on this sight. I now have the dubious honor of being the worst, at least not the first, to wreck Joe's truck.

I suspect the evil JDJR had his hands in that poor truck drivers calamity just for a photo op.

It's been awfully quiet on all the VC threads!

I know that there is a lot of activity out there, guys rebuilding and prepping sleds with the VC in mind.
