Got the Manual and start work today removing the Jack shaft and the Drive shaft. Chain case comes out and get some fresh Powder coating eventually also. Thanks again BOB. Also thank you for the DVD.

Bob, Ck those Front drivers for excessive wear, I'm not sure if new replacements are still available, but I would think some good used ones could be found. Also ck the drive chain by looking very carefully at each link for cracks or broken links, As far as I know the chain case was just bare aluminum, so if I were you a good bead blaster should clean it & the cover up. Unless you have someone like a friend who will do Powder Coating for you real cheap save your money for NEW bearings & other questionable things you'll need to replace with New..

Ya ken the drivers are worn. Also my chain has a shiny edge worn into it like on side was hitting. Also on the inside of the case there is swirl marks were the chain was rubbing. Is this normal??? the Tensioner roller was fine. Also I dont know if I should re gear. I will count them up and let you know whats in there. A friend does Powder coating for extremely cheap so thats why I considered it but new bearings defiantly come first.

Bob, I can't help you with Drivers, but I think I have a chain case that's good around here, Don't forget to remind me when I'm heading that way to bring it with.. I would say someone ran the chain too loose so it was flopping around inside the case & maybe even not in line. You can make the tool to check the gear alignment using 1/2 by 1/2 bar stock or Key stock, make it's length so it fits inside the chain case when sitting on the gears & right next to the bolts that hold the gears too the shafts.. Just make sure you get a piece that is straight. (can be cked with a Square to make sure it's straight)..
Also when tightening the chain tighten as per the TM & then spin the track to make sure it doesn't get too tight or loose in a different spot. We found out that the chains get either tighter or looser when you spin the track sometimes & get in a curtain position..

The case is fine Ken. It doesn't leak or anything. I don't need a new one. You guys have done enough I want to finish it off on my own. I will have to make sure its all straight when I put it back together.

It's not new & I'm pretty sure Ive got a bunch of good used 80-84 chain cases as everytime I buy a roller tightener assembly on ebay I end up with a chain case also..

I am all set Ken. I mean it. Although I will let you know for sure when I clean it up for good. Although it didn't leak oil surprisingly. Also I found an old exhaust spring and Orange spacer under the case in all the Junk.
