Assembling my 295s. I got a couple quick questions.
The steering column. At the bottom it goes through the frame bracket and then is held in check with a codder (sp?) key. There seems to be some play in this. Almost seems like sometype of bushing would make it fit tighter. I am not sure it would matter but I am curious.
Front gas tank. Because of the dual gas tank (front metal and back by the seat plastic) and dual carbs, it only makes sense that the front gas tank should have a single gas outlet as compared to the usual dual gas outlet/excess gas inlet in 00 series. It is easy enough to just cap the one outlet off but I am curious if there was something standard that I am not aware of?
Still no reply on the fuel to 2 stroke oil mixture question. I am going to just go with the 20:1 ratio for start up and testing. Then I am thinking of moving to a 35:1 actual drive fuel mixture. Thoughts?
Thanks for the help
Matt

Re: 295s assembly
Most of these sleds don't get run that much, so it's hard to know exactly what's working well unless there's a major failure.
Deere recommended 20:1 for the first tank, but they also recommended keeping the speed down for the first tank. A high oil ratio doesn't prevent siezures, I had one stick on 20:1 back in the day.
I suspect most of us are running 50:1 with premium gas.
As for the steering: you should have one N132422 nylon bushing at the bottom of the shaft. They are still available from Deere.

Re: 295s assembly
I didn't know that steering bushing was still available. Cool!
You can cap the 2ed fitting on the fuel tank, as long as there is a vent hole in the fuel gauge, but there should be one anyway.
20:1 for break-in is fine. I run 40:1 normally, but I think a lot of people are running 50:1.
