Congratulations Dave! That will be one sweet ride. Other cool thing to note is that the Camaro outsold the Mustang for June too. Enjoy your new ride!

I have to admit I've built a few V-6/6 speed manual Camaro's on www.chevy.com. Burn orange with the 'inferno orange' interior, RS package and black hockey stick strips was my favorite so far.

Mr. Bob, all SS Camaro's have the 6.2 V-8 with something like 425 hp! All the base Camaro's have the 3.6 Litre, 304 HP V-6. RS Package can be had on either. Don't think the V6 is slow, it is rated to do 0 to 60 in 5.5 seconds.

Thanks Scott.

Kenny, for off the cuff number, remember that 400 CI is about 6.6 Litre, and 302 ci is about 5.0 liter (4.9 actually).

Either way 425 hp is 425 hp! Yea baby!

Thanks for clearing that up Joe. I thought that Chevy wasn't going to release the V8's due to The Economy.

Bob,

GM did put the Z28 option with even more power on hold for now. Partly due to the economy, party due to GM's financial issues, partly due to new milage rules. The V8 SS was always in the cards, at least until the 35 mpg rules hit. Might see a Turbo 4 with direct injection to gain a few MPG to help offset the larger V8's in a few years...maybe...

The Camaro did have a good sales month in June too. It outsold the Mustang and moved nearly 10,000 units. Not bad for a product that is still ramping up.

My first & last Camaro & first NEW car was a 67, W/ 327-2bbl. 4spd, 3:07 posi ( later changed to a 3:37) Grenada Gold, black w/ white strip buckets & interior. I don't remember if it had Power steering or not, AM radio only, no air cond. MFG Invoice $2727.50 That also was the weight, so it cost a buck a pound back then.

Just a few memories from way back when, Keep in mind that with a 327 2bbl. you only got a 10 bolt rear end, & single leaf springs, with & small clutch disc. which ment the clutch peddle stayed on the floor above 4500 RPM when you tried sliding you foot off at that RPM, but once I installed a 12" Hypro clutch that problem went away up too 5500 RPM. & with home made traction bars made from 2-1/2" cold rolled steel bars ( there was no wheel hope any more ) you could make the small Camaro just off the line. there was nothing ( including 440 & 426 dodges or big block Chevy's on the street at the time that could get a hole shot on me.
Now 100 or 200 feet off the line was a different story, LOL It basically depended on how much wheel spin they were getting, LOL

Nice. Little to old for my taste. Like a nice 65-69 Gm Product with BB 454 in it. A nice Yenko Chevelle would fit nicely.
