I have some questions for you guys about jetting the carbs on my 77 440 LF. The sled spent its whole life at an elevation of 800 ft above sea level. ( according to google earth.) I bought the sled and took if home to an elevation of around 1650 ft above sea level. Where I ride the elevation is between 1550 and 2200 ft. The sled has always run rich since I got it. I have put up with it figuring that rich is better than lean. I moved this spring back to elevation of around 800 ft.
Now I know that the higher you go the smaller the jet needs to be. I now with be riding at elevation ranging from 800 - 2200 ft. Now should I reduce the main jet or leave it be. . I don't want to get into constantly changing jets every time I ride. The jet that is in it work I assume at 800 ft, and also runs at 2200 ft.
I am very new to this jetting thing and could use the advice.

From the Fine Tune Manual, the bench-mark for main jetting is 220 from sea level to 2,000 ft. It changes to 210 from 2,000 to 4,000. The best way to maximize performance to check you spark plugs and adjust your jets accordingly.

Funny, my fine tune manual doesn't have the jetting from 2000 - 8000. It says it will be available from the dealer at a later time. I missed the FAQ on jetting I will review it.
