grab bar

Post by 400brian »

I've been talking to Kenny Heins. We have been mulling the possibility of having some '78 grab bars made. Of the bars that went across the back of the machine, the '78s are arguably the most robust.

I want to know how much interest there might be. It appears there are shops that can do this, the question is quantity, as that very much affects the viability of any repro project.

If anyone on the board knows of a shop that can do computer tube bending, speak up.

Brian, Put me down for 6 maybe 10 if the price is good.. Just in case anybody is wondering they will fit all JD sleds from 76 to 78 ( Cyclone, Dator, & Liquifire, not correct but Maybe even the Spits ) again not correct but I'm not so sure that they would also fit the newer fire series sleds??

I have used this place to get bent tubing for prototypes for work:

Their quality is excellent.

Guy's let me do some cking I know where that place is located & that town is one of my old stomping grounds, let me see if I know anybody who works there.. I could have Charlie ( # 2 son ) take the rear bar off of my other CC sled & drop it off there so they would be able to get use a price & minimum quantity..
Nutter, did you have a contact persons name there ?? maybe I would know that person??

Kevin, he's kind of a smart axx tonight isn't he? Apparently he's forgotten already that I took his 340/S hood plates to the chromer last week. Anyone need a nice shiny set of 340/S hood pin plates cheap??

Ah, Don............I mis-spoke!

First we'll try to get the bars bent, then Don can be in charge of getting them chromed! Hey Don, they would look pretty cool!

Compared to getting pistons made for example, this should be a piece of cake.
Tubing is available, we just need it bent, and this grab bar fits a number of sleds.

However, to make this happen, we'll need some interest, that means a decent sized run of bars.

Reckon Plating in Fort Wayne. I'd think Lafayette would have a chromer though.
