'80 Sportfire for Charity - New topic
Re: '80 Sportfire for Charity - New topic
I bet so Brian. By the looks of his bench and the backgrounds it must be a "clean room".
But than I remember the picture of of his shop he posted when he joined us. His shop was spotless!
Beautiful job PJ.

Made a little more progress on theengine today and I figure I've got about 2-3 hours left in the assembly before she'll be ready to breathe again. Speaking of that, tomorrow is the day when we intend on putting some heat into this sucker on our test-fire stand, so be sure to watch for a video to be posted here tomorrow night.
I for one can't wait to hear this baby cry for the first time...!

Problem.... I have a lot more photos to share, but this board will not allow me to do it... It says "I have reached my quota limit...."
I'll email Matt to find out what's wrong.....

That is a fantastic repair you did on the fan housing PJ!!!
An all too common problem. I have seen one broken on many a sled engine.

Re: '80 Sportfire for Charity - New topic
Matt fixed it and I only have one more day of photos to post of this thing and I'll be done.
Maybe Matt can post a "sticky" area on the Charity Sled section, kind of like the "Ride with The Champs" section is now- that way we could start all sorts of threads related to the Charity Sled, in a specific Charity Sled area, so we won't have to worry about clogging one thread with pictures. It would be easier for all to see what's going on with it if all the related threads/posts were in the same place and I'd hate to see any of the pictures taken from anyone in this project get lost or thrown away.
Just a thought and maybe Matt can chime in here..

I can't get over how nice that engine looks. I am pretty sure I have ate off something dirtier than that. Way to go PJ

Nice work PJ, that motor really looks great.
Is that the much rumored "Wood-Fire" prototype? I heard the others ones "Burned down" in testing.
OK, sorry, I didn't get much sleep last night...

Last of the pictures for today!
These last 4 pictures show the engine fitted onto our home-built engine test-fire stand that one of my employees whipped up. We have suports for the engine, fuel tank and exhaust system, where the exhaust gases are routed outside via a long pipe.
Stand by for another thread that shows the engine firing for the first time!!
