Re: Make A Wish 340/S is alive!
I had talked with Chuck in the afternoon. I had thought he was coming out to the Jefferson swap, but he got hung up with work and didn't make it.
Being as he was close by, he told me he had dropped by to see how the guys were doing, and had left one of his sleds there for a visual reference.
I believe that is Chuck ( in the brown ) in the second photo.
Looking pretty darn good!

Yep, that is Chuck. Thanks for all the help Chuck! We thought we had most all the parts we needed, but of course there were some things we had forgotten. He was a real "project saver".

No need to thank me here guys, your praise needs to be saved for Clack and the crew that are making this all possible. These guys are busting there butts to make it work and doing an excellent job. I,m just filling in with the missing parts in which anybody on this board would do the same. I,m just lucky enough to be within 2 minutes from the final build site.
Very glad as to the turnout for this build and Thanks for letting me be contribute to your project.

I'm in awe! I remember seeing the first pictures of this sled covered in pine needles and looking pretty rough. Talk about a transformation! As if finding all the parts isn't hard enough you guys installed a glass pan with the Cyclone bumper! I'm sure that was a real challenge. It looks great! Oustanding job.

Re: Make A Wish 340/S is alive!
Thanks for all the compliments. That bumper was a real challenge. I told the body man that it was said it couldn't be done so that provided quite a challenge for him. A section had to be removed and it had to be re-arced. During the re-arc, the bumper snapped in two, so it had to be welded in that spot also. He used the tabs from the old aluminum pan to mount the bumper and cut and fabricated some small brackets out of the old pan also.

While I don't know where they are now, there were Deere sleds in Alaska.dap574 wrote:I wish that I could have been able to help and learn on bringing a classic sled back to life! When the factory team and drivers came up to test, the sleds were flown up to Alaska, then trucked to the testing area. It was deemed too expensive to transport them back, so they were hauled to the dump when the team left.
Ed Kruel has mentioned that they often wouldn't hit the ground, just be slid from one truck to another, as the locals hauled them home.
They probably got ran into the ground, but there might still be a few around.

Re: Make A Wish 340/S is alive!
Thanks Brian, I've still found carcasses at the dump but usually in bad shape. So far I've managed to build 2 76 cyclones out of three, 1 77 300 from 2and a 75 600 in parts! I know of a 77 340 LC , but he does not want to cut it loose. Also working on a 80 Trailfire for the daughter. Will be in southern MO tomorrow for 10 days but no snowmachine junk yards near by! Thanks for the info on AK ! I'm always looking, Dave
