back to black plastic

I know this has been covered before but I didn't see it in FAQ, what do you use to bring back the black on your plastic tank. :letitsnow:

I've tried a couple of things but always return to Bondo's product I think it's called Back to Black. I've also tried the Mother's product...."Restore Black"?? Both products are available from Walmart.

I used "Back to Black" on my faded '82 Sprintfire gas tank two years ago. It still looks great. I love the stuff and have bottles of it. I am currently working on an '81 Polaris Centurion Indy 500 and it had a slightly faded blue nosecone. Brought that right back to life as well. It works on all colors not just black. I was skeptical but it is great stuff.

I have looked for Back to Black at all the local parts stores with no luck. I had a couple of 100 series riders that had really bad faded and stained consoles on them. I tried a few different things with no luck. By chance I bought some of the Krylon "Fusion" black plastic paint. I was very pleased. I wound up painting the dash, recoil and heat duct covers also. It's been on for two years now and I haven't seen any issues.

All you have to do is Google "Back to Black" and you can find out where you can pick it up locally or you can also order it online. I've also tried the Krylon black plastic paint. It seems to adhere very well on some plastics but almost not at all on others even with a proper prep. I'm sure there are other products out there similar to "Back to Black" that would work just fine. I just personally have had great luck with the stuff.

I have all the equipment to spray dye parts. This is not painting parts but actually putting dye pigment back into the part.

No, sorry it is not. I do it on the side as a side business. Mostly for Street Rodders and my Personal stuff. I have done quite a bit of snowmobile stuff over the years as well.
