you can just take the bottom end apart by only removing the 4 long stud head nuts on each head and removing the entire cylinder and head together as a unit. leave the four short stud head bolts intact. I did this twice when a liqu engine had a good top end and only needed seals you must remove the water pipes first. this wat you do not need head gaskets just base and can buy seals from dennis kirk very reasonable. just make sure to put the same cylinder back to the same side and always pressure test the crankcase when done.-jim

you can get bearing seperators at Harbor Freight for 39.99. They work just fine.

if your head to cylinder gaskets are good you can just remove the four long stud nuts and remove the cylinder head togeather i did this severaltimes and it works well. and no need to buy head gaskets and deal with trying to seal the head gaskets. just a short-cut i leaned myself. that way you just buy the seals and replace them for sure.
