The spitty lives again

Post by jdcrzy »

Thought i would share my latest projects. We bought two 1979 spitfires this fall and went to work on the first one. Bought the pair for $ 80.00. Both were a little rough but saveable. Here is a couple of pics as to the first one condition now. It has new jugs, pistons & rings, gaskets and seals and one crank bearing that was bad and new windsheild. Stripped everything down and started fresh. Has new cdi cause it would idle but not rev up. After reading of others here with same problem, gave me the answer i needed, new cdi. It runs great now. I will be getting new seat cover and decal set ordered in a couple of days to give it the final touch. Also is a pic of the second waiting is turn in the garage for its rebuild. Plus one pic of the 1977 Liquifire i picked up last spring for $ 50.00. It just needed a new cdi and runs great. it was in excellent condition. Everything was there and not a crack or chip in the hood. Gave the body a quick touch up and total paint on the hood. Will order new hood decals soon. Thats what i have been doing evenings for quite a while. I have a 1976 340 Cylone waiting for its turn also. Needs track, which i have and i have a new cdi for it too. So thats my story, and MERRY JD CHRISTMAS to everyone.

Looks good, but that new JD paint just doesn't match the old true colour.....I have a couple to restore and one I've done already for my lane marker, but my riding sleds I hope to do in the true old colour.

Good work, and great selection of sled!!
