Waconia Make A Wish 340/S auction sled and etc.

Post by clackinator »

The auctioneer is all lined up for Waconia. We are not sure yet what time the sled auction will take place. Possibly right before the banquet, or right after the meal...but before the speakers. We will try to finalize all that soon.

There were several people that thought they might be donating other items to be auctioned at the same time to benefit the Make A Wish organization. Last year we had many Ski Doo items donated that the auctioneer was able to sell at the same time. I know there was some talk of John Deere die cast models and some vintage type JD clothing mentioned as being donated.

If you are one of the people that mentioned donating additional items, please let me know so we can get a list together. We are going to try to get thru all the items in 20 to 30 minutes, including the sled auction. I'm checking with Ice Cube to see if he would like the auctioneer to auction off the quilt that is being crafted from donated patches.

The sled is looking great! Should be a big hit with all the potential buyers!

One more update......if anyone will be hanging around the ballroom on Friday at about 11am, I would sure appreciate some help unloading and getting the machine in to the ballroom. With this sleds weight and the fiberglass pan, we wont be able to move it with a conventional dolly. It will have to be rolled on 3 caster type dollies. Then on Saturday morning we will be putting it on the back of Kyle Gray's rhino and pulling it around during the day so everyone can look it over before the auction that evening.

Its starting to look like the auction will either be held before the meal that night, or directly after the meal and before the guest speakers at the banquet.

It sounds like the auctioneer will also be doing the MVSS live auction. There will be lots of great items there too!

If anyone wants to donate any kind of old memorabilia, collectible helmets, oil cans, clothing, John Deere items, or any vintage sled or new sled stuff to be auctioned at the time the Make A Wish sled is auctioned, 100 percent of the proceeds will go to Make A Wish along with the sled sale proceeds.

Truefully it was difficult. I have pictures somewhere of the sheet aluminum that we rivited onto the front of the pan but you could always move the front by the skis. The rear end was a different story. You couldn't add a factory rear bumper because the "glove box" wouldn't open and we never thought about a "modified" bumper. The rear grab handles are located in a bad area and with gloves on it was hard to get your hands through the grips. Thanks for reminding me of the memories Justin.

Yep! Already need to replace the left rear grab handle. Broke it while installing the seat. They are very tight up against the sides of the tunnel and seat!
