YOUR BEST FOUND TREASURE OF 2009

Like in years past I always cannot find time to be here as much as I would like. But I think and others loves hearing the good fortunate of others that found something rare, mint or just plain ole school cool .

With that in mind think back and post what you found in sleds in Deere flavor or even not of Running Deere fame. I will post mine later when have some more time.

Mine would be the 1980 Liquifire, in fact we've been riding it and our 82 Trailfire hard for the last three days in Lake City Michigan. People sure do stare and giggle when me and my son go by them on the trail.

I think Jesse's 77 ETD Liquifire is by far the coolest find of 09, and Chuck finding JRC's Balsom Lake CC Liquifire is right up there too.

While I wasn't that lucky, I was pretty happy purchasing a Liquidator from Jon and a 78 Cross Country Liquifire that ran the I-500 as #59. Here is a pic of it on the starting line next to JRC with Joe Thompson at the controls:

I think the two Liquidators that were found at a dealership in Illinois definately qualifies as well!

My 340/s project sled with 75 & 76 I500 history and it was less than 10 miles from home. If I have a vote it would be the pair of dators found "on the shelf" Really an un-fn-believable find.

There is just too much cool stuff being found everyday by you Guys and Gals. From complete sleds to parts, they are all a great find. Keep up the good work and remember that the best is still yet to be found. If you want to see interesting finds than i would highly reccomend Waconia Vintage sled show this winter. Now that will be a great find.

This Sprintfire was an afterthought in a package deal....until I went to pick everything up and it turned out to be an '84 Sprintfire with only 75 original miles. It now has a good home and I'm told I'll see it again at Waconia.

posting this for a friend that doesn’t have a computer, my friend called me the other day and said he picked a john Deere liquidator out of a guys garage in Woodhull NY i couldn’t believe it what was a dator doing less than 15 miles away from my hometown in Canisteo NY, the sled has a little 2000 miles on it, one ski is dented up, the motor was set up after taking it apart we found out that the pto side connecting rod had heat marks and a white residue on it, and the bearing was seized, things that were missing were 1 carb and the air box, the seat cover had been recovered , and the track and drive axle assembly had been switched out to a liquifire track and drive axle, he got a box of parts that included a couple aluminum shrouds, couple different sprockets and chains, and a clutch face that has the part number on it is made from stamped aluminum and the 102c... clutch that’s on the motor now has cast aluminum one, from what my friend was told the motor was rebuilt back in 98 and has .020 over pistons but one of the cylinders in scored and will need a new top end job as well, i tried buying it and offered what i thought was a fair price for it and was way above what he paid for it but he decided to sell it to his brother and keep it in the family, so this past week while i was back home visiting i got talking to him and he told me me what he paid for it , the my friends told me that i was going to cry when i found out how much he picked it up for and how much he sold it to his brother for....... $300 for a dator can you believe it, i about fell off the snowmobile i was sitting on but he asked me if i would give him a hand wrenching on it this summer when i get home from college,....... $300 what a score of a life time!!!

In mid-December found an immaculate '81 Spitfire minutes from my parents place in northern, MN. Wasn't even going to look at it but I am certainly glad I did.
