carbs on 80 L-fire??

Post by zebwelder »

Can you put regular 38 mm slide carbs on my 80 L-fire or do you have to use the power jet ones?? having problems with it not starting. it will almost take off at idle but as soon as you put fuel to it it boggs out and dies even with squirting some gas to try to get it to lite?? any ideas

I had some same issues in the past where it idled fine but as soon as you gave it gas it would bog and sound really bad....well a good carb cleaning was needed pay attention to the pilot jets their the ones that unscrew. Use a carb tool to make sure them holes are open then blow them out with air hose as the rest of the carb with cleaner and air hose..plus make sure your carb flange rubber is not dry rotted..and suckin air..
there also was a time that one of them throttle cables came off of the carb slide inside of the carb ,
how I don't know but nothing surprises me any more.
good luck.

Also make sure your fuel filter is clean! (or just install a new one)
