Drag racing boats

Post by JDT »

Just watched some Hydroplane powerboat racing on TV. They ran 250 MPH from a standing start!!

Are they jet drive or prop? Must have some unreal HP.

The fastest are V-drive propped boats. I know it's not 250mph but 7 years ago I had a boat that radared at 117mph. My current boat is a "mild" 90mph boat. I've driven a lot of wild vehicles in my day and just a week ago a turbocharged Yamaha mountain sled & an '09 Ski-Doo 800R Summit with NOS up in the Teton mountains of Wyoming. However, nothing that I have ever driven has the feel of a true high performance boat. They have a very low tolerance for improper driver input. I should know, I blew one over at 100+ mph and have the scars to prove it.

Anything that runs on Nitro gets two thumbs up from me. Ever see the vids on youtube of Chad Rebec's nitro powered snowmobile called Rated R? Here's a link to get you started.
