80 trailfire prob

Hey guys, have had a little problem with my trailfire the last couple seasons. It started out when i'd try to start, after a couple pulls without choke, i would have gas dripping out of the exhaust already, so its flooding right away. I could get it to start after quite a while of pulling. So i rebuilt the carb, with new needle and seat. I dipped the carb. I set the float on how i was told to, hold it upside down, and bend the tab till it sat straight across. put it back together and ran it on one trail ride ran and started great, i also ran it around the house quite a bit. I then left it sit maybe a couple weeks at a friends house, when i tried to start it its back to the same problem. A buddy of mine sais i need a whole new carb that this one is worn too much. Any ideas? thanks

Your flooding while it is sitting. very common. replace needle inlet valve or put an inline fuel shut off so you can turn the fuel off when sled is parked. I have the same problem with my snowfire and cant find the right needle and seat so i just shut the fuel off when im done riding for the day. It works perfectly. Nothing worse that trying to start one of these sleds when its that badly flooded. been there and done that

Another thing to consider is if you have a dirty fuel tank. I had same type of problem on a 96 polaris xlt and a helpful dealer suggested the dirty tank. He explained it onlt takes very small particals of dirt to get lodged in the nedle/seat to keep it from sealing and let the motor flood when sitting even overnight. He was actually right on in this case my fuel tank had so much crap in the bottom would never have expected that on such a new sled.
