What's the rarest or most sought after NOS part you have?

Post by vendbj »

There is a topic similar to this over on vintagesleds but figure to start it here. What are the rarest or most valuable NOS parts you guys have?

I will start it out... NOS Magura Twist Grip. I may install this on the dator.

That topic was pretty popular over there.

Not sure which piece is the most sought after, but I would have to say some of NOS Dator parts I have stashed would be my most valuable, such as:

Updated front frame, track, pistons, head and cylinders or the air box.

Most of the cool NOS parts I had for the 340/s were consumed in the restoration, so they don't count any more...

So guys, what NOS goodies do you have stashed?

Since I don't have any race stuff, probably the chrome 00 series bumper I got from Rainville years ago. Actually I bought two of them, but one went on my 400.

Wow Kenny, 440 dator parts! That will be tough to top. I've heard there may have been 10 or so engines built.

Some not so everyday nos stuff I have stashed.
2) Magura twist grips.
2) '72 gauge sets (speedo & tach).
5) KEC-440 pistons.

Brian, that wheel kit was a great find, and more harder to find that wheel kits for the Dator suspension. Luckily for several of us, that wheel kit multiplied in your basement!

Wade, nice find on the NOS 340/s rails.

Not NOS, but do have a set of Dator pipes and muffer in good condition. They were off Brian Nelson's I-500 winning Dator. They became separated from the sled when it was torn down at the end of the race. Had to do some trading for the pipes, but Brian sent me the muffer directly.

Believe it or not I just scored what I consider to be the holy grail, a NOS Liquifire engine for the 82-84 models. Now that the motor is actually in my posession, I'm trying to find out the story behind where it came from. Been in a good mood the last couple weeks after this find. Not sure what to do with it yet. Run it?
