Technically Kioritz made the CCW engine to begin with, which was sold under the name CCW(Canadian Curtis Works ). The model names and numbers changed over the years. The early engines were CCW KEC 340,440 /5/21/22 . I believe all engines from 1975 thru 1978 were titled as Kioritz, when the CDI was introduced. The cyclone engines were KEC 340,440 /22A,B,orC.

And I'm thinking that Deere actually owned CCW, at least at the end, is that correct?
If you do a web search for CCW, not much relevant comes up.

Brian, I've never heard that, and it does not really make sense as CCW was in several other early 70s brands such as Raider, Scorpion, Skiroule, Mercury, probably others.

Hey Rich,
On the CCW topic, am I correct that the 74 295/s was the first motor Deere used called a Kioritz instead of a CCW, not to mention the first application of the Presolite CDI? I think by 75 all the "CCW" motors were called Kioritz.
Funny aside, but I live only a few miles from an old Prestolite factory. I wonder if they still build ignitions that are, shall we say, a bit 'touchy' to work with.
Also, do you have a clear break down of the KEC 440/22 motor as far as the A, B & C versions go? All I can really find out is that the A's were from 74-75, while the B's may have been 76-77, with the C's as 78. Can you shed some light on this one? Thanks if so!
