Re: 1980 AMF/Harly Davidson Golf Cart
Just have to share this story about a Harley golf cart.
As a kid I help on the neighbors dairy farm. They had a Harley cart that they used to haul milk to feed the calves. At the time the couple were probably in their mid 70. He would always drive and she rode shotgun, shouting directions as they drove around the farm. Just about every winter the accelerator would freeze to the floorboard. Instead of thawing it out they would just turn the key on and off. Keep in mind this was one of the ones that starts automatically when you press the accelerator and you selected forward or reverse. Anyway one day about dusk I was in the main barn feeding the cows and I hear them yelling at each other followed by a really significant thud. I Peeked through the crack in the barn door and saw both of them laying on the ground and a nice impression of the cart in the side of the machine shed. There were several 5-gallon buckets of milk on the cart at the time also, so you can imagine what that looked like.
When I got to them he said he thought it was in forward when he turned the key on. Fortunately, no one was hurt.
So the moral of the story is that snow and Harley golf carts don't mix.
