Trailfire Seat

Post by 427cobra »

I want to put new wood under my trailfire seat. I was just wondering where you can find the "fastener" that the bolt threads into to hold the seat on the sled.

Or what do you guys suggest to replace this piece??

Thanks,

Eric

Eric,
If it is like the earlier seats, the fastner is called a T-nut. You should be able to find them at any hardware store. The typical size is 1/4x 20 thread. If you can find ones made of stainless steel, that would be better than the regular steels ones which rust over time. At least use stainless steel bolts when you mount the seat the next time.

A quick Google search turned up a fastener supplier in Boston who sells stainless steel T-nuts. 1/4" were 39 cents, however, shipping was the killer, whether I wanted to buy 10 or 100.

Hey guys,

I was at the local Farm and Fleet (heard of them?) anyways found some stainless T-nuts and stainless bolts!! I installed the seat yesterday and I used anti-seiz.
They worked pretty good!!

Thanks for the help.

I'll have to post some pics when I am done putting the sled back together!!

A nice big sheet metal screw works well also and you don't have to worry about getting the t-nuts in the exact right location so they line up with the holes in the tunnel. Just line up the seat where it belongs and run the screws in.
