clutch pulling

The Right clutch puller finally came but when i got to use it just wit a wrench and my hands only have of the clutch came off so my motors still stucj in there what iam i doing wrong ??

this sounds very strange anyway you can take a picture of this........it doesnt make sense the puller threads into the clutch so honestly Im confused sorry

it screwed into where the cluthc bolt came out but as i was holding the clutch half of it unsrewed the half closeset to the belly pan so now theres only the simple half left on the crankshaft

The puller is supposed to thread into threads in the peice thats still on the crankshaft not the crank itself or the peice you have off. I really cant understand how you got half off without taking something apart. Does the puller still thread ito the part still on the crank?? If so you must have unscrewed the outer half somehow but anyway. If the puller still screws in you still need to use it to pull that half.

okay i bought a impact wrench and i was useing it to proberly pull the clutch but my clutch just spon around real fast how do i stop it and when i held it wit my hand the gun seamed to lose all power

what size compressor are you using if you use a small one like a 5 gallon compressor you have to stop and let the compressor "catch up" As soon as the compressor kicks in stop and let it catch up. try the clutch from spinning. It will take a lot of force to pop the clutch of since it probably has never been off.

Deerehead try this. Tilt your sled up (clutch side up) and dump some oil in the hole before you screw the puller in. It now works as a hydraulic puller. One other thing that you can do, If it still doesn't come off ( not recommended but does work) once you have the puller in tight and your impact wrench is at its max take a hammer and smack the back of the puller not to hard but just enough.

okay i tried the oil and nutin it just kindab added oil to the mess but still no luck then very carefully i tried hiting it wit a hamer but still nutin not even a budge now there must be somthing iam missing so if someone could outline the how pull a clutch that would be great and explain how it works cuz iam still alittle shady on the logic of a clutch puller

The idea of the impact wrench, is to hammer, or shock with impact. With the impact wrench hammering away in sharp raps, you don't have to have a means of holding the clutch from turning. I doubt your electric wrench has what it takes to get the job done.

Load up the sled and take it to someone who has a good air impact, and high air pressure. Coat the pulling tool with antiseize, and turn it in until it bottoms, then hit it with the impact wrench.

screwing in the clutch puller is no help if there is no way to hold the clutch still. on my trailfire, i used a pipe wrench which i wouldn't suggest unless you don't have something else. put sled on side and filled with penetrating oil, tightened as much as i could. my dad and i ended up putting a piece of 5 foot pipe one the pipe wrench which he held and i put a pipe on the crescent wrench and spun it as tight as i could. after about 10 minutes and nothing happening, we temporarily gave up and worked on something else. about an hour later he hit it with a hammer and the penetrating oil must have done its job because he barely hit it and it flew right off. thats just my experiences, ended up filing the grooves left by the pipe wrench but i don't thing the belt gets that low to worry about.

If you can screw the half back on the clutch then take a piece of 1"x2" and wedge it in the clutch so it wont turn. Then put a wrench on the puller and start to tighten. Might try to rap the end of the puller every so often as you tighten. That's what worked for me.
