Cooling system effectiveness on 1980 Liquifire
Was wondering how well the front heat exchanger and small radiator did on the 80+ Liquifires? Was it more than enough or just adequate for the 440? How did it do in low snow conditions? Reason I ask is a bigger mill might be going in and I'm trying to figure out if the front heat exchanger is worth keeping or not. Thanks.

TCTS,
The Liqufire "Dual Cool" system worked pretty darn well on the 65 hp 440. It could handle a larger motor under most conditions, but not all. You will need to watch your temp gauge to be totally sure.
For example, when flying accross a lake, the radiator does the bulk of the cooling. But a larger motor will let you go faster, so you more cooling out of it due to the higher air velocity across it.
Warmer temps and low snow conditons can cause issues, but without modeling it, you will have to just watch the gauge.
I hope this helps,
-Joe

Wade get on of those large aftermarket gauges and mount it on the handle bars.

Thanks Joe, that's what I wanted to hear. I've ran my indy with just the running board coolers and it does not do well in low snow conditons at all. I added an under hood rad which was just enough for the 400, so it sounds like the deere's cooling system should be somewhat close to what I'll need.
