Liquifire?
Hello, I just picked up a 1980 Liquifire, I was told the oil injector is bad on it. Can you run mixed gas without the injector, If so what ratio? Thanks

I'm assuming so because breakin period requires that you use a 50:1 fuel mixture. It should be fine, just change your fuel filter and clean your carbs more often.

Liquifire?
my brother did that on his polaris and it ran great till he didnt mix enough oil in try it but make sure u have at least a 50:1 mix id say more like 25:1
Liquifire?
25:1 would foul plugs for sure. 50:1 is what you should run. By the way there should be 2 injectors. one in each intake port. Is it the oil pump thats bad? The injectors are really nothing but nozzles? Dont know how they could be bad?
Liquifire?
The "injectors" are actually checkvalves so they could be bad.
The centerbearings on the crank is also lubed by the the oil pump so you need to split the crank and remove the washers that keeps the mix out the centerbearings...to do it properly...
Go up one or two sizes on the main jets is also a good idea....

Hey Guys,
Magnus is right. The LF (and Kawi Invader) have 3 ports on the oil pump. One for each jug, and one between the center crank bearings.
Although I have hear of guys runing pre-mix in that motor, I recomend replacing the pump with a new or good used one. They are not hard to find, and they run the water pump of the oil pump shaft on that motor, so you can't simply remove it like you could on a Trail or Sportfire.
Good Luck,

chances are some idiot put 10w30 or simular in oil tank and it gummed up the pump.. if tank looks like someone put tar in it then your system needs to be taken aprt cleaned and put back together.
now since i personnal rebuilt the crank fro my liquifire i can definatly say that the center bearings are NOT just oiled by the injection system. nor can you jsut remove washer to oil the bearings either... premixed fuel will get some oil to all bearings in the moter. mostly because unless your crank has been done by someone recently the tiny oil holes will be plugged in the crank for the oil from center oil injection.
now that said for light riding to normal running just premix is okay
for heavyer riding a good operational injection system is a good idea.
for hard riding or racing running injection AND premix in tank is STRONGLY recommended.
for mod / drag racing at higher rpms aside from everything else drill oiling holes on top crankcase cover where oiling holes would normally be.. use the pto or mag side for location. alson indent holes to catch drippings from piston better. NOTE this was only put in for those whose know exactly what i mean for engine mods.
