Wanted: Fire series backrest & brackets

Post by tjsdad »

Hello fellow JD fans. Im looking for a fire series backrest kit. I have the two up seat on the Liquifire, and am in need of one to keep Junior from falling off the back as he is too tall now to sit in front of me. It doesnt have to be perfect at all, just serve its purpose. I have 82 LF parts, if you want to trade anything, or I will flat out buy it with Paypal account.

I'm pretty sure I've got a complete kit (used, not NOS). Let me check tonight...don't want Jr falling off, although it does make a for a pretty good story years later. I still remember my little sister stuck in the ditch bank (she was 5-ish). The group stopped to cross the road, Dad took off a little too quick and sis slid off the back. Didn't realize she was gone for several hundred yards. Oops.

Hi, I am interested in getting a backrest kit too. My daughter is going to have to ride on the back this year for sure. Not sure who tjsdad has bought from so I will pm to see who still has one available.

I received my backrest today from Sprailfire. Very tiny specks of rust and the cushion in mint. He packaged it like a pro, and it was shipped very quickly. It is great to know there are very trusting people on this forum. Thanks again Mitch. I appreciate it.

Replied...

Looks like the kit I have is not for the fire series (was sold to me as such). When consulting jd parts online the backrest kit #'s are the same. Other than taking measurements is there any obvious way to tell them apart?

Mitch, I have used a 400/500 backrest on my 78' Liquifire sled with little if any mod's. It's been years and the one I have is well used , so some bending might have occured prior to me fitting to my "fire".
So I would guess it should work on about anything Deere..
But I' m expert by any means!!!

After a little more digging (thanks Daryl) it looks like I have the only 1 off kit Deere made, ie the lone widetrack version...

Yep, the uprights and horizantal pieces are unique to the 600. The pad itself is the same.
