So we're coming up on 3 months away from the 2011 Challenge, who's got their sleds ready? How many 340/S will show up but not run this year? Will a limited edition JD finish the run? All these questions and more on the next episode....

Matt

I think about it every day!

As usual, Campbell is killing us, but we're getting used to that.

...so says the guy with a cracked muffler, LOL!

I will be there with the NY posse again, assuming I survive the Vintage I-500 in one piece. Campbell will need all that big power to tow my Dator if it has another electrical fit. Stupid spark. My back up sled might be Cari's Sprintfire again, or my I-500 sled if it stays together.

Linder, are you going to ride one of your 340/s' or just bring them for show? (like I am one to talk, LOL!)

Looking forward to another great Deere turn out!

Hey Rainville.

It's a lot simpler to just hang around the garage, pretend to wrench on the 340/S' and talk smart. :bonk:

Matt,

My larger "ETD Transporter" should be delivered by the New Years. There is room in it for you if you want to attend the VC. So far I think we only have 2 guys and Cari in the truck, or we can toss you in Stimie's Suburban if we are tight on room. Todd also reserved a bunch of hotel rooms too.

Lindner, my 340/s still needs to have the new motor assembled, for now it just sits in the basement workshop and mocks me while I wrench on my I-500 sleds.

sledder,
The short ride was fast but leisurely - We kept a good pace, but we took plenty of breaks, stopped to see the Eliason hardware store/museum, and stopped regularly to let everyone catch up. I think we did 50-60 miles.
The "challenge" is fast pace, with no time for breaks. Gas stop, lunch, gas stop, and occasionally stop for 30 seconds to let your friends catch up if needed, but you can't stop for long. The whole group does not stop except for gas/lunch, which is understandable considering the number of machines last year.

ok i like the sounds of the challenge and i am guessing it moves fast enough the dator wont over heat i was told from my friend that showed to me that you want to keep above 45-50 mph with it to keep it cool enough. It will also be a fresh engine no better way to break it in haha. Brad Wheelock
