Have you found any '73/'74 handle bar controls yet? If not there may me some at the snowmobile salvage yard near me. What is different about the '73/'74 controls vs the '75 and newer?

Nope. The grips are shaped differently. Not sure how to describe them. I'll have to find some photos.

75 and up use a semetrical round knob while 73-74 have a angled knob.

Yes, John's seat.

Can't find a good side-profile shot of an earlier grip right now. One difference is the lip on the end - on the 75 it is round, on 73-74 it hooks toward the front of the sled.

Ok, I think I know what your are talking about. Never noticed the difference before. Just need the grips with the brake and throttle levers? Any tricks to remove them from the bars?

OOOPS sorry Matt i ruined a set on a 73 x8 trying to get them off for you !! Didn't realize they had any set screw :bonk: :bonk: :bonk: the busted remaining pieces went to the new owner!! That was prolly the best thing on the sled !! until i got out the hammer!! slightly persuading them off never turns out good???

I have a question, are these grips the same on all 00's - JDX's - 295/S's - 340/S's
( excepting the juice brake side ) - 76-77 Cyclones & Liquifires & Dators?? or close enough that they could be repopped as 2 units???????

Matt

There is a guy near Janesville who has a pile of NOS grips, but he only has one side.

His name is John I believe...anyone have his phone number? He's always at the Jefferson swap.

Is this what you need Matt? I pulled them off my '73 400 parts sled this afternoon. They are not perfect scuffs and a crack where the set screw goes through. I know they are still still solid because I really had to pull hard to get them off the bars.
