Christmas in the Big Apple

Post by JDT »

Tomorrow I and the family are driving to the Twin Cites and then flying out to NYC for a week.

I will be off line until we return.

I want to wish all my friends on JDSleds a Merry Christmas.

I fill all of my pockets, socks, shorts, etc with metal and plastic objects just so I get to go through the "pat down" a few extra times! It's sort of like having an escort....quick touchy/feely pat down and then away with you. Never to see him/her again. Doesn't it make you feel "dirty" when you fly these days!?? LOLROF :beers;

Well we are back home in SD.

NYC was an experience.
I could write a book.

The very first night in the hotel my wife and I were invited to join another couple for a Bob & Carol, Ted & Alice adventure.
I was game, my wife was not.

A pack of smokes cost $14.00 in Manhattan. How can they afford to smoke yet seams like everyone does.

All NYC taxis have the same electrical issue. When they step on the brake the horn blows also.

We had dinner one day in a really neat Italian Resturant at 23rd and 9th in the city. Our waitress was from New Zealand and the hostess was from Egypt. The Cook was from the Bronx.

Learned that there are no left turns allowed in New Jersey. You have to drive a mile to get to the other side of the block.

Lagrudia Airport has a cockroach problem. I amused myself while waiting for our flight home by stomping on several.

Is there a restroom tax in Manhattan? Seems that there are very few places to go when you have to go. This was not a problem for me but my wife found it very trying.

The play Lambarte had ticket prices starting at $125 for cheap seats. Luckly there was a nicely dressed scalper selling tickets for $50 at the door. My son and daughter enjoyed the play.

We parked in a parking garage one day for two hours. Cost for this service was only $46. Now I know how they can afford to smoke.

While I am not homophobic I find it unnerving to have a flamming flight attended who wants to help adjust my seat.

English? Who speaks english in NYC?

So we escaped from New York only to get home to a blizzard here.

Right now it is unreal outside. Can see nothing.

The Weather Channel just showed pictures of a 100 car pile up on the interstate near Fargo ND.

It's starting all over again! Windchill is -30. Suppose to get 20" in the next two days.

I am in northern, MN currently and we got dumped on all day/night yesterday. I'm guessing 10", we are supposed to get another 8-10" from the second wave coming through today. They are saying 15-20" total. Finally, a real MN winter again.

Geeez, no kidding! :needsnow:

A bunch of motorcycles were out today buzzing around it's so warm around here.... :wall:

I think I'm going to have to take more sled trips to MN and WI rather than to Michigan to get to the *REAL* snow. :sled:
