295/s Lost spark

Post by iajdsledhead »

I pulled my 295/s out after a long hiatus from the trails to clean the carb and put on new fuel lines.I primed the carbs and it fired a couple times, then nothing. No spark where there had been hot blue spark on the N19V's.I checked the stator as per the service textbook and it fell within the resistance ranges. The trigger assembly had 235 ohms between the red lead and the black lead but 345ohms between the white and black lead.Specs say 100 to 300.Don't know if that could be the problem or not. I know those Prestolight ignitions are fragile and problematic. The last time I rode it (winter of '93) it ran great.I don't know if the 18 years in storage has anything to do with it.I have a couple cdi boxes to try but am reluctant to try them if something else is wrong and will damage my spares.Any suggestions?
Thanks.

I bought if there is any chance of damaging your spare cdi by trying it.

You are correct about the stators. And yes, they can go bad just sitting.
