primer location

I have installed a new 295 on my John Deere 300. Where does the small hose go that comes from my primer? There is a large hole on top of the carb but no nipple to attach the hose to. Ids it just missing a fitting or something- I did check the old engnie and carb but it had been taken apart already. I couldn't find anything in the owners manual. Maybe that was the part of the manual the mice chewed up.

The sleds didnt come with a primer. So sombody most likely added a primer kit. These usally come with a fitting or fittings to install in the carb or intake manifold. You have to drill a hole for these fittings.

Hi Grant

Central Snowmobile shows a universal flange plate kit for $7.50.
This is a spacer with the inlet tube installed, ( to which you connect your primer line )
and a pair of gaskets. This mounts between the carb and the intake manifold.

In my experience, if everything is right, you shouldn't need a primer.

Your mileage may vary.
