Really nice liquifire
took a trip yesterday to check out a "show condition" 82? liquifire i believe, here's the story on the the liquifire, the guy that owns it now bought it about 10 years ago off from an older gentlemen that used it for ice fishing it has 582 original miles, the entire sled looks like it is brand new right off the crate except for the seat cover has some cracks in it, the track still has the Little nipples on on, the paint hasn't even been baked off the y pipe yet, and it still has the original JD belt on it, it comes with the original cover, and all the paper work with owners manual, the guy said he wont go lower then $1400, what do you guys think about it seems a little high?
Re: Really nice liquifire
whats your plans with it? if its truely a show condition sled, yes def. worth it IMO
Many new and used parts available, I ship anywhere. Thanks everyone.

Where's the belt guard? Do you have more pictures? Crank seals would be a must.
Re: Really nice liquifire
That sled looks like it has more than 500 miles on it. The seat should better than that. My 81 has 900 miles on it and looks about the same but with a better seat. Like the guys said there are better ones out there for way less money. Wait him out, if he wants to sell it he will come down in price.

I doubt you will find a cheaper one in better condition. It's high for a typical 82, but seems fair for one that nice, and they only built 1,000 82's, so they are the 2nd rarest of the 80-84's, after the 420 Liquifire's built for 84.

Re: Really nice liquifire
Problem with a sled that has been sitting that long is it probably has nice gree carbs by now, then cranks seals are a must at this point and it mar require other gaskets etc. It's deff. in nice shape, and the comment on the belt guard is right...make sure he has that.....very nice sled..but $1400 for a "sitter" is a lot to me, and if you buy it you need to make it worth your money as a yearly rider...or is show winning quality?

No, the odometers all read miles, despite km/h outer ring.fordmtrsp wrote:It only has 361 miles cause that Kilometers speedo.

Re: Really nice liquifire
Being that it has been dormant, plan on spending some more $ in it. Not a screaming deal, but not something to pass by either I feel. In 2 years you may be sorry ya didn't pop on it. Low miles sleds have nice chassis overall usually and with some clean-up to exterior and slight detail can be a very presentable original. Remember there is lots of restored sleds and they can be restored a 100 times but are only original once !
Spend some money in seals, carbs and gaskets and should have a real nice find someday.
It's a Liquifire too...not a trailfire.
Good luck Dave
