The day turned out well, though the extreme cold in the early morning kept our numbers down a bit. We had around 90 old sleds turn out for the ride and I was anticipating a few more. By the time we got out on the trail around 11:00 am, the sun was warming things up quite nicely and everybody had a great time. The trail held out really well and was way smooth. I didn't get many pics, but I'll try posting the few that I have. Perhaps some others who took in the ride will post some more pics. I'm really looking forward to seeing FIII's helmet cam footage.

I think I had my camera settings screwed up because I can't seem to get the pics to post properly. Just got the new camera and maybe the res was set too high? Only seems to be posting about 1/2 the area of the actual pic

FIII has posted some better pics on the vintagesleds.com site so if you want to see more, take a peek there. Perhaps he'll post them on here too.

The only bummer thing that happened during the ride was my niece somehow managed to do some modifications to the bumper of the 76 JD 300 which I had loaned her. Anybody know where I can get a nice front bumper to replace the u shaped one which it now has? I knew I should have loaned her a lesser sled. The 300 likely has less than 200 miles on it and was completely original with absolutely no flaws prior to the ride. Man, I must be just plain stupid for entrusting it to a 16 yr old girl. Oh well, at least she didn't get hurt at all and that's the main thing.

Nooooooooooo....LOL....that was such a beautiful sled....oh well these things do happen. I'd have to look through the lot and see if I have a minty one....they would all need a new reflective stripe, but I think I may have one that had no knicks or bumps..

I'd really appreciate if you found a nice one in your parts selection. I found a decent looking 300 on kijiji in southern MB today that looked to have an excellent bumper. I decided I'd buy the sled just for the bumper as the price was quite reasonable. But wouldn't you know it, I was a few hours too late and it had already been sold.

That is one really nice looking Interceptor. Don't suppose you know what serial number it is?

The Liquifire in SpitfireKing Minnedosa pics is mine. Was running good till I pulled the recoil rope out. Again. Ended up finishing the race on the back of the 68 Snow Cruiser. I think my spine is an inch shorter. On the plus side you really get to see the countryside when traveling at 20 mph.

I didn't catch the vin number on it, but it belongs to a fellow from a neighboring town so next time I run into him, I'll see if he'll provide me the serial number. And yes, that sled is absolutely stunning. He also had a beautiful 440 Invader at the ride. He rode the trail first on the Interceptor and then unloaded the Invader and went around the circuit again. He's a very devoted Kawasaki enthusiast.

Webman, I belive that that is a 67 snow cruiser. The 68's were white and boxy.

Last friday's edition of the Winnipeg Free Press had a story about the Makaroff derby. One of their automotive reporters (Willy) came out for the ride and really enjoyed putting some miles on the Snowfire. Here's a link to the story.
