Nos 78 liquifire cc kit on e-bay

Post by 79spitfire#100340 »

In case anyone has been buried under a snowdrift for a couple days, there is a NOS CC kit on ebay right now. Will a grand buy it?

I'd love to have that....but it is already higher than what I paid for my Liquifire 340 *and* the Trailfire 440 LX together.

Hey thanks JC.

Well this is really cool to see.

I bet it will take a grand to call it yours.
I figure the track alone is worth $600.

But what a piece of memorbilia!

He states that there is no engine parts included. Would there not have been the y pipe included in the kit?

I was thinking the same thing.

The Y pipe may have been ordered separately, or there was a separate engine kit. This is the description for this kit on JDparts:

Would a guy leave it in the box complete or put it on a non cc 78? That would be a tough call! I hope some one on the site ends up with it just to see what they will do with this needle in a haystack nos parts kit. This is the first kit I have ever seen still in the box and not already on a sled!

I think this kit will go for over a grand, but not sure. I know what I have in mind, and already warned Cari. Someone is going to pay crazy money for it is my guess, as this is the first time one of these kits has surfaced to the best of my knowledge.

I don't think I could use it, maybe open the box and place it on display under glass. And yes, the motor kit was separate. It included the restrictive Y pipe, drive clutch "W" wieghts and instructions to adjust the carbs.

Darn neat kit, looks like Ed it clearing out some nice stuff.

Does anyone remember about 10 years ago when the CC engine kits were going on Ebay or the original Joe and Matts board for around $150 or so? It seemed like there was an abundant supply of them. If I rememer correctly they had a cylinder block, y-pipe, gearing and clutching. I was in junior high at the time and I remember wanting so badly to have one of these kits and a 78 to bolt it into thinking that the kit ADDED horsepower. You would have to think that most people who bought these probably didn't inlstall them but threw them on the shelf for a rainy day. I remember the first winter after Joe and Matt joined sites that the CC sleds were just starting to catch fire and the CC engine kits were big talk for awhile. The only 2 people I can think of that were around at the time were Rainville and Moser. Maybe you guys can scratch away some cobwebs and tell me if memory serves me right.

Jack you have it half right, the kit went on the 80s liquifire and the kit actually brought the horsepower down to meet the rules. I would still like to find one of these kits.

That does sound familiar. I could have sworn that they were the 78 kits. The only reason that I'm leaning that way is because I remember talk about the CC LF build numbers and the kits being produced for those who didn't get one of the 165 factory CC sleds going hand in hand with those kits being for sale. I was thinking that Ron Sonneks restoration sparked some of this. I do remember the 80s kits being for sale in largeish quantities but I thought that was a more around the time that DKtrader had their first big run of Deere auctions which was about 5 or so years ago. It's been awhile and collecting NOS parts wasn't a priority back then. Either way you'd think that both of the detune kits would surface more often than they do. It would be even better if the prices didn't go up over the years.

I love seeing stuff like this popping up on ebay because it offers encouragement that rare race parts are still out there to be had! I agree it will bring crazy money. If someone out there has a CC that the suspension was trashed or the original Yokahoma track was destroyed they are bidding on this! If a guy had a very nice original 340 Liquifire this kit could make it worth alot more money. Just a very cool item. Anxious to see if it sells. Makes you wonder what else the seller is hoarding that he might list next? If memory serves the last rare race item sold was a set of NOS 340/s pistons!
